Take A Chance

“Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not one has better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one’s ideas, to take a calculated risk – and to act.” – Andre Malraux

Often times we find ourselves running away from task that we believe we cannot accomplish. We shut the doors before they even open, we are afraid to fail.  No one guarantees us that in every decision or task we take will be success but if  one will never know until we try. It's just as a commercial I've seen on TV , there is 6yr old girl and she knew she had not been at her best citizenship but she really wanted gum. The small girl did not know if to ask her parents for a piece of gum but she decided to ask and take the risk. She asked her mother if she could have a gum and her mother said yes. Therefore have the not asked if she could have a peace of gum she would of never gotten a piece yet since she took the risk and asked she succeeded. This quote fits a lot if situation fir example school, How many times have you wondered about assignments being due because the teacher has not said a weird about but you know this assignment is worth a lot of points and will be due soon? Many students including myself tend to ask around our group of friends or not ask at all and just wait until the day we see everyone turning in there papers or assignments to realize it was due that day. You don't have to be the best of the students, the smartest, the loudest, the quietest or the teachers favorite to be allowed to ask question about and assignment. One should have the courage to act upon what we want in return, we want to get a good grade in the class then we should be asking question and being responsible to communicate with the teacher even if  she/he is intimidating. You either take the risk of failing for not even trying or you take the risk of succeeding your choice.

I like to think about this as I was in a soccer game. There a ball pass the box of the golly no one is approaching it yet leaving me with a chance to score. There are two things I can do;I can either stare at the ball and wait until the golly or another player takes the ball or Run to the ball as fast as I can and take the chance to score. See, I don't know whether I'll make the goal or not but if I never was to try I would never find out. Think about it if every time I have the chance to score I take it I will succeed at least once from the person who just rather not even try and give the ball to the opponent team. I have always though persistence is the key. One has to be persistent, we take the chance it doesn't work? try again it doesn't hurt if not it makes you stronger and takes the fear or failure away, because by trying and not succeeding is not failure yet.

Sometimes we think to ourselves, " I'm not going to even race this girl she is fast and I don't want others to see me loose  the race" or " My mom wont let me go to the party anyway so I'll just say I can't go" These are situations in which I have been in myself and I'm sure many have as well. Just like the quote said " failure is not one has better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one’s ideas, to take a calculated risk – and to act". Take the chance because you never know the outcome might be better than you expected. Take one, take a chance. One who fail are those who do not try.

Positivity .VS. Negativity

“A pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” — Winston Churchill
As a teenager it's difficult to see the positive side to everything especially when things don't go your way or to taste. I remember my mom and I discussing a new program called Virtual academy, my mom believed inforcing this new academic program among me would be great for my future. While in the other hand I believed the total opposite my mom gave me so many positive outcomes the academy would bring to me yet I on the other hand kept bringing excuses and obstacles on myself to not enter the academy. I was being negative, I believed that the academy would not help me at all and that it was a waste of time. I kept seeing difficulty in every opportunity my mom gave me to create a better future. All because it did not suit my plans at the moment. For my senior year I had everything planned out, my classes and everything. For my mom to come along and want me to join and academy outside of school was devastating. Yet instead of looking at the academy in a positive way and taking it under consideration I simply abolished the request. I was close minded and didn't see anything positive about the academy. Now if would of considered the academy in a positive matter I could of realized and taken advantage of the help and the resources that would be given to me as a student and individual.
Many times you come across situations in which being optimistic and positive is not an easy task. For example when a dear family member passes away you feel great sadness's you are overwhelmed with feelings and emotions that flow from inside. Part of you is upset, because God took someone dear to you. Many might tell you everything will be OK and that they are in a better place while you might be thinking "Life is horrible", " I rather die", " I'm no one anymore", " I can't do this",or simply " I'm not strong enough". Where is the positivity there? That's right there isn't any. Although
life will bring you times in which being positive seems nearly impossible one should try to look beyond it and ask ourselves why did this happen? or simply say everything happens for a reason although we might not understand why all the time but I believe eventually you will.
Positivity opens your eyes to new oportunities and achievments. There are many doors opened for those who are positive. When I think of negativity now, I see and unhappy person with themselfs, a person who does not believe in themselfs, a person with out faith a person who only seeks for the worse.
To see an opportunity in every difficulty takes practice. But its more than possible for every indiviadual not see a difficult path as an obsticle if not a challenge to overcome and pass.

Leadership

What is leadership for you? Is it a simple task you take when being in control? Or does it mean you take the steps of a role model? For me a leader is someone who is positive minded, someone who encourages others to do better and achieve their goals.Yet I believe in leadership you find values. A leader must be honest, respectful and responsible to others and himself. Do you consider yourself a leader? Have you ever became an inspiration to someone? Leadership is all about inspiring and encouraging others to try new accomplishments, goals, and giving them self confidence. For example I see my mom as a leader. My mom encourages me do be a better person everyday, a better daughter , a better student and a better friend. A leader who shows respect to not only her family but everyone. She has taught me honest is the best policy; " It's best to accept once mistake and say sorry than regret you never said anything"- mom. My mother is not only a mother of  two children, she is a teacher, chef, friend, counselor, doctor, and most importantly an inspiration. To be a leader you need to live up to it every step of the way. Its not something one should take advantage of because then you are not a true leader. The upbringings of a leader is very important when it comes to the effect you make on others to make a change for good. Wouldn't you like for someone to consider you his/her leader? Who is your inspirational leader?
Just as  John Quincey Adams stated,“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” I feel everyone should live up to this quote. Share the enthusiasm to being more than just great at a sport, or at getting only a c on your exam. Look for ways to help others and give them a piece of your outgoing personality to those in need and inspire them. Just as Quincey states " If your actions inspire others to dream more...Become more.."  those are qualities of a true leader. A leader is an individual who takes the important role of responsibility, honesty and moral values. Be a leader and plant a small seed in someones life, you never know how much impact you can do on someones life wether it's negative or positive. Be a dreamer, a listener, advisor, and a learner for not only yourself but other individuals. A leader simply and inspirational leader who makes me dream higher than my own expectations because he/she knows your capable of anything you set your mind to. While you are your own leader at times, without you noticing someone will be trying to follow your foot steps. Are you a leader to follow?

Outcome Of Positivity

Mahamad Gandhi once said “Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”  As soon as I read this quote my parents appeared in mind. Ever since I was a child my parents have thought me that negativity is never the key. I can recall them telling me that with a mind filled with negativity will only give you negativity in return. I have always believed, you make of life what you want it to be. Keeping your thought positive help you be strong minded and happy. Why happy?  Think about it, if oneself  constantly has negative thoughts, how is it to be expected for the person to be happy if all they think about is negative. We simply create the world we live in by thoughts and beliefs. As Gandhi states in his quote "...Keep your behavior positive because your behavior become your habits.." Meaning the manner in which you project yourself in life towards others and oncoming situations becomes a habit. If your behavior towards every individual is respectful at all times it eventually becomes a habit. If one is used to constant dishonesty the more frequent it becomes the faster it becomes a habit, meaning dishonesty is no longer occasional.
Behaviors is to habits as habits are to Values. Just as stated by Gandhi. I strongly believe that  you should "..Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values.." Since childhood my parents taught me the importance of values in oneself. They have always said that the values I learn from them is what will stay by me for the rest of my life. Yet I believe values not stay by you if not become a part of who you are, who you have become, and how you were brought up to be. Values are very similar to morality,  as Dante Alighieri says "The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis" meaning that those who stay neutral in moments of wrong  are ones that do the most harm. I believe this quote is very strong in the sense of explaining the effect your morality can cause as well as the importance of  the values. Its important to always stay strong to what you know is right because after all you are in control of your own destiny. It's amazing a single thought of being positive can become such an important part of who you may become or who you are. Being positive will bring the best outcome in even the darkest places, yet I believe it must take strength to be stay positive through the outcomes life may bring. Can you keep your thoughts positive? In which direction do you want your destiny to go ?

Being Positive is not always easy, you just have to have the strength and fundamentals to do so.
