Take A Chance

“Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not one has better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one’s ideas, to take a calculated risk – and to act.” – Andre Malraux

Often times we find ourselves running away from task that we believe we cannot accomplish. We shut the doors before they even open, we are afraid to fail.  No one guarantees us that in every decision or task we take will be success but if  one will never know until we try. It's just as a commercial I've seen on TV , there is 6yr old girl and she knew she had not been at her best citizenship but she really wanted gum. The small girl did not know if to ask her parents for a piece of gum but she decided to ask and take the risk. She asked her mother if she could have a gum and her mother said yes. Therefore have the not asked if she could have a peace of gum she would of never gotten a piece yet since she took the risk and asked she succeeded. This quote fits a lot if situation fir example school, How many times have you wondered about assignments being due because the teacher has not said a weird about but you know this assignment is worth a lot of points and will be due soon? Many students including myself tend to ask around our group of friends or not ask at all and just wait until the day we see everyone turning in there papers or assignments to realize it was due that day. You don't have to be the best of the students, the smartest, the loudest, the quietest or the teachers favorite to be allowed to ask question about and assignment. One should have the courage to act upon what we want in return, we want to get a good grade in the class then we should be asking question and being responsible to communicate with the teacher even if  she/he is intimidating. You either take the risk of failing for not even trying or you take the risk of succeeding your choice.

I like to think about this as I was in a soccer game. There a ball pass the box of the golly no one is approaching it yet leaving me with a chance to score. There are two things I can do;I can either stare at the ball and wait until the golly or another player takes the ball or Run to the ball as fast as I can and take the chance to score. See, I don't know whether I'll make the goal or not but if I never was to try I would never find out. Think about it if every time I have the chance to score I take it I will succeed at least once from the person who just rather not even try and give the ball to the opponent team. I have always though persistence is the key. One has to be persistent, we take the chance it doesn't work? try again it doesn't hurt if not it makes you stronger and takes the fear or failure away, because by trying and not succeeding is not failure yet.

Sometimes we think to ourselves, " I'm not going to even race this girl she is fast and I don't want others to see me loose  the race" or " My mom wont let me go to the party anyway so I'll just say I can't go" These are situations in which I have been in myself and I'm sure many have as well. Just like the quote said " failure is not one has better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one’s ideas, to take a calculated risk – and to act". Take the chance because you never know the outcome might be better than you expected. Take one, take a chance. One who fail are those who do not try.

  1. This is perfect, reminds me of Schrondinger's cat. We have to take risk in order to achieve our goals, we have to take risks to avoid a circular life. Another example is when someone wonders if their crush likes them back, and by just wondering no result will happen. But by taking action we can live in peace, without doubt, whether the result is positive or not. By taking risks, we will know our mistakes and how to become better. Good job Ale :D
