Mahamad Gandhi once said “Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.” As soon as I read this quote my parents appeared in mind. Ever since I was a child my parents have thought me that negativity is never the key. I can recall them telling me that with a mind filled with negativity will only give you negativity in return. I have always believed, you make of life what you want it to be. Keeping your thought positive help you be strong minded and happy. Why happy? Think about it, if oneself constantly has negative thoughts, how is it to be expected for the person to be happy if all they think about is negative. We simply create the world we live in by thoughts and beliefs. As Gandhi states in his quote "...Keep your behavior positive because your behavior become your habits.." Meaning the manner in which you project yourself in life towards others and oncoming situations becomes a habit. If your behavior towards every individual is respectful at all times it eventually becomes a habit. If one is used to constant dishonesty the more frequent it becomes the faster it becomes a habit, meaning dishonesty is no longer occasional.
Behaviors is to habits as habits are to Values. Just as stated by Gandhi. I strongly believe that you should "..Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values.." Since childhood my parents taught me the importance of values in oneself. They have always said that the values I learn from them is what will stay by me for the rest of my life. Yet I believe values not stay by you if not become a part of who you are, who you have become, and how you were brought up to be. Values are very similar to morality, as Dante Alighieri says "The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis" meaning that those who stay neutral in moments of wrong are ones that do the most harm. I believe this quote is very strong in the sense of explaining the effect your morality can cause as well as the importance of the values. Its important to always stay strong to what you know is right because after all you are in control of your own destiny. It's amazing a single thought of being positive can become such an important part of who you may become or who you are. Being positive will bring the best outcome in even the darkest places, yet I believe it must take strength to be stay positive through the outcomes life may bring. Can you keep your thoughts positive? In which direction do you want your destiny to go ?
Being Positive is not always easy, you just have to have the strength and fundamentals to do so.
It's all about perspective and I agree. If one sees the world in a specific way without changing it leads to a static lifestyle, everything will remain the same. Not only does the quote emphasizes to look on the bright side but on cause and effect also. As you mentioned it does require strength being positive but one must not ignore the negative because it's part of human nature—a balance—but it's better to be on the positive side of things. Good post :)
ReplyDeleteReally diggin' your blog!
ReplyDeleteAnd its very true..I was just reading a book stating that being positive effects the outcome of who you are on the outside. Also that the people around really effects your own emotions.
overall very good post...keep blogging! :D
Being positive is always a good thing. Regardless of whatever situation you may find yourself in, being optimistic usually has better results than one gets from being negative. Even in the toughest of times there are those who manage to see the brighter side of things which takes a great amount of strength. Besides, i try to stay positive all the time so i can relate to this quote a lot. Well done :D
ReplyDeleteI loved your essay, I believe in this 100% and because a mind is indeed a powerful force that can either harm you or help you. I heavily believe in this quote and I try to live it ever day. But their was one problem though, I felt that you were repeating the quote a liitle to much.
ReplyDeleteHi Alejandra! You are most definitely right. Life is what you make. Nobody can expect to have a life full of happiness if they are always thinking about negative things. Your post showed some of your personality and the things you believe. It was really good! And I loved the quote!
ReplyDeleteHey ale, this quote I thought spread much positivity. When I think about words people speak and think, I believe that they should be positive if you want your actions to be positive. A teacher once told me,"the garbage that goes in is the one thay comes out". He basically talks about things you watch and hear. This was a great quote and good resoonse.
