Positivity .VS. Negativity

“A pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” — Winston Churchill
As a teenager it's difficult to see the positive side to everything especially when things don't go your way or to taste. I remember my mom and I discussing a new program called Virtual academy, my mom believed inforcing this new academic program among me would be great for my future. While in the other hand I believed the total opposite my mom gave me so many positive outcomes the academy would bring to me yet I on the other hand kept bringing excuses and obstacles on myself to not enter the academy. I was being negative, I believed that the academy would not help me at all and that it was a waste of time. I kept seeing difficulty in every opportunity my mom gave me to create a better future. All because it did not suit my plans at the moment. For my senior year I had everything planned out, my classes and everything. For my mom to come along and want me to join and academy outside of school was devastating. Yet instead of looking at the academy in a positive way and taking it under consideration I simply abolished the request. I was close minded and didn't see anything positive about the academy. Now if would of considered the academy in a positive matter I could of realized and taken advantage of the help and the resources that would be given to me as a student and individual.
Many times you come across situations in which being optimistic and positive is not an easy task. For example when a dear family member passes away you feel great sadness's you are overwhelmed with feelings and emotions that flow from inside. Part of you is upset, because God took someone dear to you. Many might tell you everything will be OK and that they are in a better place while you might be thinking "Life is horrible", " I rather die", " I'm no one anymore", " I can't do this",or simply " I'm not strong enough". Where is the positivity there? That's right there isn't any. Although
life will bring you times in which being positive seems nearly impossible one should try to look beyond it and ask ourselves why did this happen? or simply say everything happens for a reason although we might not understand why all the time but I believe eventually you will.
Positivity opens your eyes to new oportunities and achievments. There are many doors opened for those who are positive. When I think of negativity now, I see and unhappy person with themselfs, a person who does not believe in themselfs, a person with out faith a person who only seeks for the worse.
To see an opportunity in every difficulty takes practice. But its more than possible for every indiviadual not see a difficult path as an obsticle if not a challenge to overcome and pass.

  1. I like how you point out that negativity opens new doors for people, whereas pessimistic people are continually stacking bricks and building walls in front of those doors so they will never even be able to toch the doorknob of opportunity. It is really hard to be optimistic about some things, practically impossible at times, but if you can find at least one pro, it might make the experience a little easier.

  2. I understand where you are coming from with this alot of times a lack of maturity may cloud the judgement of teenagers. i Supposed that is why we need parents. I agree that a good outlook on positivity leads to a much happier life i think easier aswell and like you said it is not simple to achieve you need to work on it great job !

  3. You have a great quote to work with and I like how you used it to relate it to a personal experience. You're right that most teenagers are close-minded and don't see the positive in a certain situation. It's hard when someone passes away to listen to others positive feedback but it is the best to come about a difficulty like that. I would have liked a few more little scenarios but overall this was a good job!
